Santorini Catamaran Cruises

Tour operators

Santorini catamaran cruises, compared

At least fifteen companies run catamaran and boat cruises around the Santorini caldera, and dozens of their trips are bookable online with live dates. They are not interchangeable: the port decides how soon you are in the caldera, the boat decides whether you share the deck with 14 people or 55, and the price ranges from $34 for a volcano boat to over €1,000 for a private catamaran. Here is all of it side by side, with each company's own-site price, departure port and tourism registration (MHTE) checked.

Book online

The cruises you can book online, by type of boat

The partner's Santorini boat trips, filtered to cruises on the island and grouped by boat: shared catamarans, small-group and sailing boats, volcano boats and private boats. Each group puts the best-rated and higher-end trips first and keeps the most-booked and the cheapest. Every card opens the live booking page; prices are per person unless the card says per group. Our top pick has its own calendar further down.

Shared catamaran cruises — Vlychada, Ammoudi & hotel pickup

Shared catamaran cruises are the classic Santorini boat trip: about five hours past Red Beach, White Beach and the hot springs, with a BBQ meal, drinks and swim stops, by day or at sunset. Most include hotel pickup. These boats are the biggest on the water, so the price is low and the deck is busy.

Volcano & hot springs boats — Athinios and the Old Port of Fira

Volcano boats are the cheapest way onto the water: a big boat from Athinios or the Old Port of Fira to Nea Kameni, where you walk up the crater, then a swim at the hot springs. The longer trips add Thirassia and the Oia sunset. The volcano entrance fee is paid on top.

Routes and swim stops can change on the day in strong wind, most often in July and August afternoons; the volcano entrance fee of €5 is paid in cash on the spot. Prices are "from" prices per person unless the card says it is priced per group; ratings and review counts as captured October 27, 2026. They move with season and availability — the booking page is the reference. Booking through these links may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you; it never changes the order or the verdicts.

Choose the right Santorini boat trip for you

The right Santorini cruise comes down to four things: your budget, how many people you want on the deck, whether you want the sunset or a day in the sun, and whether you want the volcano. These are the trade-offs, with the companies that do each one best.

Cheapest catamaran

A shared catamaran is the lowest price: from €75 with Santorini Yachting Club from Ammoudi as an October offer, €79 on Sunset Oia's Red Cruise, or €85 with Vista Yachting from Vlychada, for up to 20 guests. Online, the sunset catamaran is $88.

Fewer people on deck

Sail Away takes nine guests on a Lagoon 380 sailing catamaran from €140; Sunset Oia's Platinum takes 14 from €130; Renieris runs semi-private catamarans for 16 to 20. Barbarossa sails a small boat from Ammoudi at €110 per person in 2026.

The volcano

The volcano boats leave Athinios or the Old Port of Fira: Santorini Excursions charges €30 for three hours on Nea Kameni and at the hot springs, without transfer. Online the same trip is $34, and the 12-hour day with Thirassia and Oia $64.

Your own boat

A private catamaran costs more in total but less per head for a full boat: Sunset Oia from €800 for up to four, Vista Yachting €1,044 for up to 20, Spiridakos €1,100 by day and €1,350 at sunset for up to four. Santosails quotes on request.

Be the skipper

Licence-free rental boats let up to five people set their own route to Red Beach, the volcano and the hot springs: Sea4all at Akrotiri from €150 for a morning, Costa di Lusso at Vlychada from about €260 for five to ten hours.

The sunset

Most companies run a sunset cruise of about five hours. Caldera Yachting's Gold sunset cruise boards at Ammoudi at 15:30 and ends at Vlychada; Spiridakos sails its luxury sunset cruise from Vlychada to Ammoudi. The sunset catamaran online is $88.

One rule applies to every boat: the sea decides. In strong wind, most often on summer afternoons, companies change the route, swap swim stops or move the trip, and the Hellenic Coast Guard can stop sailings. Book with free cancellation and keep a spare day.

Operators

The direct-booking boat companies, by departure port

These are the Santorini boat companies you can book directly, grouped by where their boats leave: the Old Port of Fira and Athinios, Ammoudi Bay below Oia, and Vlychada on the south coast. Each profile gives the company's own-site price and, where it is printed, its MHTE number.

Old Port of Fira & Athinios — the volcano boats

The Old Port of Fira and Athinios port sit inside the caldera, a short sail from Nea Kameni: the base of the cheap volcano and hot springs boats. The Old Port is reached by cable car, donkey path or on foot; Athinios by road.

It suits a cheap half day on the volcano. Caveat: its Google rating, 4.2 on 370 reviews, is lower than the catamaran companies', and the €5 volcano fee is paid on the spot. It suits travellers who want a sailboat rather than a large catamaran. Caveat: its own website could not be read when we checked, so the price is the partner's and no MHTE number could be confirmed. How we checked licences. In Greece, tourism businesses such as travel agencies and companies that sell excursions are entered in the Ministry of Tourism's register of tourism businesses, the ΜΗΤΕ (MHTE), which took over from the Greek National Tourism Organisation (EOT); each gets a number of the form 1167E…, which many print in their site footer. We looked for it in the footer, about, contact and terms pages of each operator's own website. The boats themselves are licensed separately by the Hellenic Coast Guard, which we did not check. 2 of 15 publish one — shown above. Santorini Excursions (Dakoutros Bros), Sunset Oia Sailing Cruises, Santorini Yachting Club, Barbarossa Sailing, Vista Yachting, Renieris Santorini Sailing Center, Spiridakos Sailing Cruises, Caldera Yachting, Santorini Yachting Cruises, Santorini Star Luxury Sailing, Volcano Yachting, Costa di Lusso, Sea4all: real, reviewed operators that don't list a number publicly; we mark them unverified rather than omit them. We excluded aggregators and booking portals, which are not operators.

Left out. We list companies that run boats under their own name and website. The company behind the most-reviewed volcano and hot springs cruise on GetYourGuide publishes no website of its own, and the full-day volcano, Thirassia and Oia trip is sold by a Crete-based agency, so both appear in the bookable list above but not in this table. Day trips from Crete and Naxos, transfers, horse rides and wine tours are not Santorini boat trips and were left out, as were Maps profiles whose prices or departure points could not be read on their own sites. Nobody sells an official Santorini cruise: there is no venue or official ticket office for the caldera.

Disclosure. Direct prices and ratings are from operators' own sites and public review platforms (checked October 27, 2026). Online prices, ratings and review counts are GetYourGuide's, captured October 27, 2026; booking through those links may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you, and it never changes the order. Always confirm current price, schedule and what's included with the operator before booking. Machine-readable version (JSON)

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions people ask most before booking a Santorini catamaran cruise or a boat trip on the caldera.

Who runs the catamaran cruises in Santorini?

Private boat companies, not the island. The most-reviewed catamaran companies include Sunset Oia, Vista Yachting, Santorini Yachting Club, Spiridakos, Caldera Yachting and the Renieris Santorini Sailing Center; the volcano boats are run by agencies at the Old Port of Fira and Athinios. This page compares 15 of them, two with a tourism registration number on their own site.

How much does a Santorini catamaran cruise cost?

Online, a shared or small-group catamaran costs $67 to $145 per person and a volcano boat from $34. Booked directly, the companies list shared cruises from €75 to €175 per person depending on boat, season and time. A private catamaran costs about €800 to €1,350 per boat, and a licence-free rental boat from €150 per boat.

Where do Santorini catamaran cruises leave from?

Most leave Vlychada Marina on the south coast, with hotel pickup; some board at Ammoudi Bay below Oia, and some sunset cruises end there. The volcano boats leave Athinios port or the Old Port of Fira.

How do I check a Greek boat company is registered?

Look for an MHTE number (ΜΗΤΕ), the Greek Ministry of Tourism's register of tourism businesses, usually in the footer of the company's own site, in the form 1167E…. Only two of the 15 companies here print one. A missing number is not proof of anything wrong, but it cannot be checked.

Is it cheaper to book a Santorini cruise directly?

Usually not by much. Sunset Oia's cheapest cruise is €79 on its own site, the same as its sunset catamaran on GetYourGuide (€79, shown here as $88), and Vista Yachting's semi-private catamaran is €85 on its site and on GetYourGuide. Booking online adds free cancellation up to 24 hours before, which matters when the wind changes the plan.
